I first encountered Global Voices in 2006. At the time, I was writing for a blog focusing on curious, social issues that were overlooked by mainstream medi, and Global Voices quickly became one of my preferred sources of inspiration, links, ideas.
Several years later, in 2012, when I left India and the publications I worked for there (theindiatube.com, which I founded, and Motherland), I wanted to use my expertise as a writer and editor to volunteer, and I reached out to Global Voices to see if I could help.
It's been an amazing experience. I am always impressed by the enthusiasm of the community,and how much work people put into it. It's a privilege to be an editor, and I am so proud to belong to the Global Voices family—even as a reporter, I often resort to the network for contacts, peoples, ideas.
