Suzanne on Skype from Strasbourg, France

After doing her stints in family business, public service and volunteering, Suzanne Lehn has returned to what she likes the most – multilingualism, news and the Internet. She is the co-editor of Global Voices in French.

Retiring from public service, she wanted to know about foreign languages and she stumbled upon Global Voices. At that time GV was looking for a translator and she exactly fit to the requirement. She started as a translator with GV Lingua – French from July 2008.

Since then, she has translated numerous posts into French from English and written articles in French and English. She also contributes to Global Voices Advocacy and Rising Voices.

Though she saw herself as a global citizen from very early in her life, she spent all her life in Strasbourg, the very city where she was born. Strasbourg, the capital of the Alsace region of France, is the ninth largest city in France. It hosts several European institutions namely the Council of Europe with its World Forum for Democracy, and part of the E.U. Parliament. The beautiful city is famous for its historical centre, the Grande Île, the first city centre to be classified entirely as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Strasbourg is also famous for its Christmas market, nice restaurants, wine and beer bars.

Along with languages, travelling is Suzanne’s passion. She began her travels though the books she read. But she is lucky to have relatives in different parts of the world and that’s how her real travels began.

She credits whatever she knows about GV and the Internet in general to Claire Ulrich, the editor of GV in French who welcomed her to this community of wonderful people.

While talking to me on Skype she said many of her dreams have come true contributing to GV. And she tells all in her candid interview with Marie Bohner few months ago.
