The First GV Türkçe Meetup Ever

GV Türkçe Meetup

Our GV Türkçe Team of translators

After a long period of time, Turkish Lingua has been making progress. It took a lot effort and time to set up the Lingua all over. Almost all the translations in the WordPress were revised along with the Lingua site, social media accounts were created, and last month we’ve managed to recruit new translators to GV Türkçe. I must say that it was most kind of ElGohary to be helpful during these processes since I had been asking him tons of questions.

The day before, we held the first Turkish Lingua meetup with our newest translators. Since many of our contributors were not very familiar to GV and to each other as well, we aimed to catch the sense of our community and the basics of GV. We had a little workshop, which we covered some of the fundamentals:

-GV 101: Information about GV in general, including the background, history and the progress of GV since the beginning.

-Projects of GV, with more context on Lingua.

-An overview of the translation process.

-The way we use WordPress, a sum-up of the Wiki and some tips on translation.

Then we let go of the formality and started chatting in general. We talked about digital activism in Turkey, our roles in journalism as translators, the things we should do and the things we can do, and many other random subjects.

We're all hoping that GV Türkçe will draw more interest with time.
