Dear GV Community,
We've been enjoying the posts you've been publishing on the Community Blog [2]!
The Community Blog, as you know, is publicly accessible to anyone who knows its web address, and many of us have already shared links to Community Blog stories on Twitter, Facebook, etc.
There is, however, a setting in WordPress that allows a blog not to be indexed by search engines, and when we launched the Community Blog we set things up so that it wouldn't show up in an Internet search.
But with so many great stories on the Community Blog, we think it's time we changed the setting so that more people can find and read our stories, and learn more about how our community works and the things we care and think about. For those of us who no longer maintain personal blogs, making the Community Blog more visible also makes it an even better place to showcase our work.
It's also true that as the GV archive has grown, many of us use Google, rather than the GV site search, to find GV content.
And the ability to search the Community Blog easily and quickly is going be even more important now that we've moved the information from the GV Wiki on to the Community Blog.
So starting on the 22nd of June, the content on the Community Blog will be visible to search engines such as Google. Thank you again for all that you do for GV, and let's keep filling the Community Blog with great stories!
