As people who speak more than one language, we all have those moments where we can think of a particular word in one language, but no matter how hard we try, we can't think of it in the other. Now there's an explanation! According to this article [1] in Wired, “A bilingual's two languages sometimes converge, but often they compete,” said Judith Kroll, a psychologist who studies bilingualism. Google Translate — now in 103 languages!

While we know Google Translate is no replacement for translators, it can often be a great resource when looking up individual words or phrases. Recently, Google Translate announced that they added 13 new languages [2] to their selection, giving 120 million new people the opportunity to use this service! New languages include Amharic, Scots Gaelic, Xhosa, and more!

Being Proactive with Translation Agencies

Oftentimes, working for a large translation agency may not be the most pleasant experience. David Friedman, a Swedish & German into English translator and member of the American Translators Association as well as the Swedish Association of Professional Translators, talks about what translators can do to make working for large agencies advantageous for us.
