Preparations for this year's Global Voices Community Council sessions are now in full swing as we get closer to our September start date!
Starting this year, existing Council Members no longer need to reapply each year, so if you were on the 2021 Council, your membership will automatically roll over into 2022 and future years.
We also look forward to welcoming many new members this year. If you've been involved with GV for at least three months and have contributed within the last five years, you should have received an email with an invitation to join and a link to the application form. In case you missed the email, you can still apply by completing the Council Application Form [2]. The deadline for joining is August 15, so please apply [2] as soon as possible!
About the Council
The Council is a forum for Global Voices participants to discuss and advise on strategic issues related to the organization, including fundraising and ethics policies, editorial approaches, and programmatic focus. We began the Council process in 2018 and have held yearly deliberations since then. Since it was launched in 2018, the Council has played a critical role in helping shape the strategic focus of Global Voices, so we look forward to lively discussions at our 2022 session.
The 2022 Council will focus on Global Voices strategy for the next three to five years. We’ll continue the work we started in 2021 to refine GV’s mission [4] as we reach our 20th anniversary in 2024.
