Ngo Ngimbous Fidèle Juliette is a freelance translator and conference interpreter with more than 16 years experience in the domain of translation and interpreting.

She joined GV in 2021 as French Translation Manager and still occupies that position. She has been proofreading, publishing and sometimes creating interviews of some contributors who distinguish themselves. She has been promoting GV in some translation schools in Cameroon, encouraging student translators and translation graduates to translate for GV.

According to Juliette, thanks to that, since 2023, GV French secured an agreement with ISTIC (Advanced Institute of Translation, Interpretation and Communication) that is regularly sending their translation students for internship at GV.

All candidates in the 2026 board elections have been asked to answer the set of questions listed below. Feel free to ask Ngo Ngimbous Fidèle Juliette additional questions in the comments area below this post!

What appeals to you most about the prospect of serving on the GV board?

By serving on GV Board, I intend to serve as bridge between GV administration and GV contractors/managers to carry out their challenges to GV management and reversely to better share the expectations of GV's Top Management with contractors/managers. I intend to better contribute to the accomplishment of GV's Vision.

What talents, skills, networks, and expertise can you offer Global Voices in your role as board representative?

As a Board representative, I will offer my leadership and management skills acquired from 2013 to 2015 where I held the positions of ASA Vice-President (2013) and President (2014 and 2015). ASA being ASTI (Advanced School of Translators and Interpreters) Students’ Association.

Then, I served as the voice of ASTI students, a mediator between the students and the school administration and an intermediary who made sure that all parties (the School Administration) and students are working hand in hand to maintain the reputation of the School as the prominent Translation and Interpretation School in Africa in general and in Central Africa in particular.

As you look ahead to the next three years, what, in your opinion, should be GV’s overarching priorities as an organization?

In my opinion, in the next three years, GV will gain more in targeting journalism and translation schools around the world to promote volunteerism in regards to the writing of stories and their translations. In doing so, we will have many stories written, many translations available and GV's visibility increased. And all the contributors will have an international recognition as their stories and translations will be published.

What aspect of GV’s work interests you the most?

At GV, I am mainly interested in encouraging people to translate for GV, proofread translations, and publish them.

What would you like to get out of this board service experience, both professionally and personally?

At the end of this board service experience, professionally, I would like to gain more experience in community leadership and at the personal level, it will be another opportunity for me to work simultaneously with people from various ladders (decision makers and contractors/managers).

How will you fit board service into your personal and other professional work commitments?

Board service will be fully integrated into my professional work commitments. It will just be a continuation of my professional endeavours. It will be another assignment that has to be performed with the same commitment and determination as the existing ones.

What methods would you use to engage and listen to the community in order to represent them effectively at board level?

The main method I will use to engage and listen to the community to better represent them is dialogue. Dialogue will be my main tool. In implementing this dialogue, in addition to initiating conversations on existing Google groups, I will create a WhatsApp group where we can quickly share experiences and challenges. I will also organize periodical Zoom calls. And I will report the challenges faced by the community during Board meetings and if need be, through the Board's formal communication channels.
