Call for Volunteers: Webinar Coordinator for Global Voices Insights

Global Voices Insights webinars are one of our most iconic outputs, bringing together voices and perspectives often lost in mainstream coverage and discussion. As part of the monthly newsroom topic-focused GV Spotlights, our goal is to host 1-2 webinars every month. Following transitions in our staff, we are seeking a dedicated volunteer to help keep these Insights as a central part of our mission.

You can help us continue this long-running series by strengthening our video presence that highlights our unique content and perspectives across different formats.

Primary responsibilities

The coordinator will need be responsible for:

  1. Overall coordination: Maintain the tracking spreadsheet of webinars by following-up with Regional Editors and other Global Voices members to schedule a pipeline of events, ideally every two weeks
  2. Speaker coordination: Proactively follow up with moderators, speakers and organisers to collect the information needed for publicity
  3. Visual design: Make publicity images, backdrops, banners and other collaterals
  4. Promotion support: Collect information for the blog post announcing the event in coordination with the Communication teams
  5. Event support: Help out with streaming the webinar if needed via the Streamyeard platform (training available)

Time commitment

We estimate the role would take an average of 1.5 hours per week (6-8 hours per month). Because the role requires coordination and follow-up, it would spread out over the week.

Who we are looking for

This would be a good fit if you are:

  1. Comfortable with using Canva templates to create Insights graphics
  2. Responsive to messages on Slack or email, or both for coordination
  3. Someone who takes initiative and can move the activity forward with minimal supervision
  4. Comfortable with drafting written communications, announcements, summaries
