Summit 2017 Community Meeting Notes: Bring on the Comments!

Greetings GVers! Alas, the GV Summit 2017 has come and gone, but we still have the memories — and lots and lots of notes collected from our many sessions. At long last, a few of us core teamers (Eddie, Ellery, Lauren and myself) have gathered all of the notes we could, and put them together in a sharable format.

Here's how you can review what we've collected so far, and add your thoughts on anything we missed.

We're sharing the notes on Google Drive so you can add comments and discuss

“Add a comment” button in Google Docs, please add your thoughts to the notes!

We decided to publish the different notes as Google docs. This way you can look through the ones that interest you and add comments on anything you find interesting, or on any sections where you feel you have something to add. Many GVers are writing posts about the meeting here on the Community Blog too, but we thought that the best way to capture the full, messy experience would be to lay it all out in a sharable format.

We've shared them as “Anyone with the link can comment”, so you can both comment on anything or suggest edits to the text, which will show in green. Please feel free to add your thoughts however you want, and add replies to the notes that other people make if you have more to say.

Please know that these notes are not comprehensive. They show much — but not all — of what a few of us were able to capture in our efforts to observe and document our conversations and session. Also, we have deliberately omitted certain sessions, conversations, and peoples’ names, in an effort to preserve the privacy and intimacy of the event.

Here's a link to the main Google Drive directory, where you can find all the docs, followed by a TOC of each of the individual files.

Thanks for reading — and for commenting!

The core team will be meeting for an intensive retreat at the end of March 2018 where we'll be working on GV's strategy, community, mission, and future. These notes — and all the comments we hope to receive — will help us reflect on the summit and document ways that we want to improve the process and experience in the future.

Community feedback on these notes, both from those who were there and from those who couldn't be, will be invaluable in helping us set the agenda and priorities for GV going forward.

Thanks again to all those who participated in the summit, before during and after, for making it such a meaningful and eye-opening event. ❤
